Company history In 1990, JS Johal & Sons, Inc. began as an agricultural operation growing prunes and walnuts in the norther Sacramento Valley town of Yuba City, approximately 30 miles north of Sacramento, California. Jawand S "JS" Johal, then employed at Sierra Gold Nurseries, and his two sons, Raghbinder "Raj" Johal and Tirath "TJ" Johal, both full time students at California State University, Chico, as a part-time enterprise. Over the next few years, the farming business expanded to custom harvesting of walnuts and acquisiton of Rideout Ranches, an operation that included walnut orchards. dehyderation and hulling plant. Upon Raj and TJ's graduation in 1995 from CSU, Chico, the family operation purchased three class eight three axle truck tractors, drop-deck and flat-bed trailers for private fleet use and for-hire. As the orchard business expanded, so did the trucking division, eventually expanding in 1997 to construction materials and heavy equipment transport.
